Is … suitable for a child to watch?

When we advertise a play, we endeavour to include any warnings about content, including an age rating, if appropriate. If you have any particular questions about a play that are not explained on the synopsis, please contact us.

Do you have a youth group?

At present, we do not have a youth group. However, should there be the demand for one, this may be something we can reconsider. There are sometimes parts that come up in plays for under-18s.

Do you have a car park?

Yes, we have our own car park available to audience members. There is also a public car park next to us which is free to use after 6pm.

How do I become a member?

Is the theatre wheelchair-friendly?

The entrance, foyer and bar areas all accessible, and there is a disabled toilet. The auditorium is also accessible and there are two dedicated spaces for wheelchairs. The backstage areas and stage are not currently completely accessible, though could be adapted as needed. The studio, lighting, sound, wardrobe and props rooms are on the upper floors and are not accessible to wheelchairs.

I’ve booked a ticket, but can no longer come. Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, we are unable to give refunds unless the show is cancelled.

Do you sell drinks or snacks?

Yes, we have a licenced bar which is open before, during and after shows, as well as at other times for members. We also sell teas and coffees, ice creams and snacks. Drinks from the bar can be pre-ordered before the show so you don’t have to queue up in the interval.

How much are programmes?

Programmes are currently free of charge as part of your ticket.

Do I need to bring my ticket?

No, you just need to make a note of your seat number. However, if you don’t know it, our box office team will be happy to help you.

What time does the theatre open before the show?

Usually about an hour before the show is due to start.

Do you do discounts for groups?

We don’t currently do this, as we feel our prices are already good value, especially compared to professional theatres. All money goes to the upkeep of the theatre and the costs of producing plays – no members are paid.

Can I hire the theatre for an event?

We are not currently able to hire the theatre out to new clients. However, members are able to take advantage of the theatre’s facilities with approval from the Executive committee.

Do you have any old photos of plays?

Yes, we have a large archive of photos, many of which we hold digitally. Please contact us if you have a particular play you are interested in.

Who was in a particular play?

We have programmes and details for virtually all plays performed by Chads going back to 1920. Please contact us if you have a particular play you are interested in.

I have a play I have written, would you be able to perform it?

Unfortunately, due to the limited resources of the theatre, we are unable to accept any unpublished plays.

When will you perform…?

Members can suggest plays to the Plays Selection and Casting Committee (PSCC) each year. Details will be sent via email.

What days are rehearsals?

Rehearsals are usually held on weekday evenings, typically Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, but this can vary according to availability of the director and cast. Rehearsals are often held on Sunday afternoons closer to the performance date. A schedule is usually sent out by the director before the start of the rehearsal period.
